Making Place Cards with Avery Place Card Templates

Making place cards and escort cards using the Avery 5302 and Avery 5371 place card and business card templates.

Avery makes high-quality pre-cut place card templates that take away a lot of the hassle of making your own place cards! Rather than going through the laborious effort of cutting the cards from a sheet of card-stock paper, you can print them directly onto Avery's pre-cut paper and basically just punch them out!

However, the downside of using these pre-cut cards is that dealing with the card templates and formatting can be quite a hassle.

Here's how you can use our place card maker to print onto your Avery place cards.

Supported card formats

Place Card Me supports Avery 5302 Small Tent Cards, Avery 5371 Business Cards, and compatibly-sized products.1 If you'd like to use another format, don't hesitate to let us know! (Please indicate the format you want in the "other" answer.)

Formatting the text on the cards

To format your cards, just go over to our place card maker and follow the steps! If you need help you can also check out our place card making guide.

Once you've created your cards make sure to choose one of the "Avery" options underneath the font selectors as shown below.

Choosing Avery Cards

Choose the "Avery 5302" or "Avery 5371" option in the selected dropdown.

Printing the cards

Measure twice, cut once!

Before you print your complete set of place cards it is highly recommended to first test printing a single page on normal paper to make sure the alignment is correct. If your print options has a paper selector make sure it is set to "Letter" paper in "Portait" mode.

After doing that, it is also recommended to test a single page on the Avery paper before printing the complete set. The paper can be finicky and may require manual loading on some printers.

Once you're happy with your test runs, it's time to go ahead and print the whole set! The cards should be easy to separate from the paper and fold and use.

Happy place card making!

Common Problems

Cards are Slightly Off from the Cut Lines

A printout that is slightly off from the cut lines can almost always be fixed by changing your printing settings. Look for an option like "autoscale" or "fit to page" and disable that setting. Or under "Scale" try selecting "fit to paper" instead of "fit to printable area".
